Terms of Service

Last updated: September 15, 2026

These terms govern the use of TrulyUs (the Service). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

Article 1 — The Service

The Service lets users post photos and videos to albums and share them with invited members. It is educational software developed for the 42 Tokyo ft_transcendence curriculum; commercial-grade availability and permanent data retention are not guaranteed.

Article 2 — Accounts

  • Registration requires an email address, password, and display name.
  • You are responsible for protecting your password and must not share it.
  • The Service is not designed for one person to create multiple accounts.
  • Accounts containing false registration information may be suspended.

Article 3 — Albums and roles

An album defines its participants and permissions. Its creator automatically becomes an administrator. There are two roles, and multiple administrators are allowed.

Any administrator, including the last one, may demote themselves or leave the album. An album left without administrators remains, but nobody can then edit it, manage its members, or delete it. The album is deleted once every member has left or deleted their account.

  • Administrator — everything a member can do, plus editing the album, inviting and removing members, changing roles, and deleting the album.
  • Member — view, upload, comment, delete any photo or video in the album, and leave the album.

Article 4 — Invitations and participation

  • Only friends can be invited; direct invitations by email or similar means are unavailable.
  • No acceptance is required. Invitees join immediately and can view the album.
  • Administrators may remove members at any time; removed members lose access.

Article 5 — Upload restrictions

Videos are stored without conversion, so playback depends on the viewer's environment.

  • Photos: JPEG, PNG, WebP, or HEIC. Videos: MP4 or WebM.
  • Maximum size: 20 MB per photo and 200 MB per video.
  • Maximum of 20 files per operation.

Article 6 — Rights and responsibility

  • Creators retain all rights to their photos, videos, and comments.
  • The Service handles uploads only as needed to store them, show them to album members, and generate thumbnails.
  • Uploaders are responsible for their content and must obtain consent before posting identifiable people.

Article 7 — Prohibited conduct

The following conduct is prohibited.

  • Infringing copyright, portrait, privacy, or other rights.
  • Posting media captured without the subject's consent.
  • Illegal content or content encouraging crime.
  • Harassment, threats, or discriminatory content.
  • Publishing album media elsewhere without the uploader's permission.
  • Disrupting the Service, unauthorized access, or attempting unauthorized actions.
  • Using another person's account or lending an account to someone else.

Article 8 — Effect of deletion

Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no trash, archive, or recovery period. Every member of an album, not only its administrators, may delete media uploaded by other members, and members must understand this before joining.

  • Deleting media immediately removes the file, metadata, and attached comments.
  • Deleting an album immediately removes all of its media, comments, and membership data, including content posted by others.
  • Deletion cannot be undone by users.
  • Accidental deletion can only potentially be restored manually from an operator backup, and restoration is not guaranteed.

Article 9 — Data export

Users can export account information and album contents as JSON and are responsible for safeguarding exported data.

Article 10 — Changes and suspension

Because the Service is educational, it may be changed, interrupted, or discontinued without notice. The Service is not liable for resulting loss. Keep important data locally using the export feature.

Article 11 — Disclaimer

The Service is provided as is, without warranties of fitness for purpose, data integrity, or continuous availability. Its providers are not liable for damage arising from its use.

Article 12 — Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the last-updated date on this page will be revised. Material changes will also be announced in the application.

Article 13 — Personal information

Personal information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
